The ITIL Lite Construction Workshop

Based on the Malcolm Fry book - 'ITIL Lite - Road Map to Full or Partial ITIL v3 Implementation'

The IT Mindset has to Change ...

This Construction Workshop has been created to complement the best selling ITIL v3 publication entitled ‘ITIL Lite – A Road Map to Full or Partial ITIL Implementation'. ITIL Lite was authored by Malcolm Fry as a complimentary publication to supplement ITIL v3. The book has been written as a journey so lends itself very well to building a plan to implement ITIL whether partially or fully. This Construction Workshop has been designed for those who want to make the book come alive and dramatically reduce the time that it takes to produce an ITIL implementation Plan or project. The expert presenters all have distinguished careers in IT Service Management and have the ability to provide that extra dimension that comes from those who fully understand their subject matter and also have the ITSM life experience to endorse that knowledge.

The book and Construction Workshop are built around the premise that ITIL v3 is a framework and not a methodology in other words it can flex to meet you’re specific requirements to ensure that it stays fit for purpose. There are many reasons that can prevent you from fully implementing ITIL as the video clip on this page explains. Some of the questions I get asked regularly are; Where do start? Do I have to implement all of the ITIL v3 components? Can I just implement the components that belong to me? How do I build a plan to implement ITIL? There seem to be more questions than there are answers. There is another key point and that is that gaining foundation certification does not equip you with the necessary knowledge to implement ITIL.

When did it become a matter of shame and humiliation not to fully implement ITIL? I meet many people in the course of a year and have noticed that when you ask the question “How are you progressing with your ITIL implementation?” that the response is often a shameful admission that “we may not be able to implement the whole of ITIL v3”. Since when was implementing the whole of ITIL a mandatory requirement? What happened to ITIL being a framework and not a methodology? Why not implement a Lite version of ITIL that meets your needs and objectives? There are many organizations that for different reasons cannot or will not be implementing ITIL v3 in its entirety and therefore are taking a Lite approach.

There is an old proverb that states “experience is something that you get just after you needed it” but this proverb can be broken because if you attend this workshop you will be to say that “ITIL planning experience is something that I got just BEFORE I needed it”.
Although this workshop is autonomous it is based around the ITIL Lite book and is an excellent manual to accompany the workshop so it is a good idea to bring a copy of the book with you. To finish here is the definition for ITIL Lite:

‘ITIL Lite is an approach to implementing key components of ITIL v3 to ensure a sound basis for IT Service Management either as a starting point for full implementation or as a deliverable for those not wishing to fully implement ITILv3’
